Recent Activities
Open Access Week
October 21-25 was open access week, an annual celebration and reminder about the value of open access to knowledge and research around the world. Open access is the outcome of purposefully licensing scholarly resources for free use and distribution to provide equitable access to knowledge.
I’ve been encouraged during my time here at Bucknell by our shared values for promoting social justice. The Bucknell mission asks us “to educate our students to serve the common good and to promote justice in ways sensitive to the moral and ethical dimensions of life.” I believe that open access is one way for us to meet this mission.
In 2011 the faculty adopted a policy for open access. You can learn more about how L&IT can help you promote open access at this link.
BUDSC19 – 6th Annual Bucknell DS Conference
Bucknell hosted the 6th annual digital scholarship conference from October 11-13. The conference included 16 posters, and 32 presentations. Over 120 people attended and enjoyed the beautiful fall weather in Lewisburg while discussing the present and future of digital scholarship.
