CHEM202: General Chemistry and Virtual Reality

Course: CHEM202: General Chemistry
Faculty: Zulma Jimenez
DP&S Liaison: Todd Suomela
Date: Spring 2018

How do you visualize an atom or learn how to do an experiment?  Chemistry may tell us about the building blocks of matter that surrounds us, but experiencing it for yourself can be a challenge. Zulma Jimenez, visiting faculty in chemistry, worked with the Digital Pedagogy & Scholarship Department staff to create 360 videos that showed students how to perform chemistry experiments before they entered the physical laboratory.

Bucknell has VR viewing equipment in Bertrand library and the MakerE engineering space. For the creation of 360 videos Bucknell has Richoh, Kodak, and Samsung equipment available for checkout.

Read more about the VR experience in chemistry 202.
